Waves of Growth with Jupiter - My Story

Jupiter is a planet of growth, opportunities, luck, & Expansion

Learn about some of my experiences with Jupiter transits

In this post you’ll learn more about how jupiter can manifest in specific places and the importance of knowing the transits to support your path and how you desire to grow.

Tracking transits gives us insights and awareness of our current situation and the ability to plan what’s ahead. They show us the timing of when events will occur and can awaken us to new possibilities.

Something I’m going to be doing a lot of on my platform is sharing transit stories of real life examples. Many Astrologers will share transits of famous people as it provides a tool to visibly see how the astrology is manifesting, but I’ve found that the stories of your “average” human are where we can really see the stories come to life and be more relatable.

Not all transits need to be this crazy, massive event. It can be as simple as a mindset shift or a small moment in time that shifts the trajectory of your path. Like a seed that nestles in your awareness and begins to grow through time.

I think that story telling is one of the best tools to learning and at the same time is always fascinating to see the weavings of the stars at play.

Today, I’m going to dive into a few of my Jupiter transits and tell you a few ways of how they’ve played out in my life.

When I speak of transits, my favourite way to explain them to complete newbies to astrology is to think of the current moving planets as harbingers of change. As they move through the sky, we can symbolically see them always moving through a certain spot on the natal chart.

Jupiter in Aries? See which house Aries is in charge of on your chart to know what house is being activated.

The house is key to understanding your personal transits. It grounds the cosmic archetypes and shows us WHERE the planetary energy will be showing up within our life. We all have all 12 houses and all 12 signs on our natal chart.

Jupiter, is a positive planet, in general. It can bring us abundance, growth, luck, opportunities, and expansion. Basically, everything it touches, will expand or grow in some manner.

Not all Jupiter transits can be “positive”. There’s the possibility of excess. This can be too much of a good thing or Jupiter expanding the things that aren’t so good. This is all dependent on your personal natal chart and how things are placed.

I wanted to show you how Jupiter has shown up for me through its transits through a few of my different houses.

Jupiter takes about 12 years to transit through all 12 zodiac signs, so this means that it spends about 1 year in each sign.

Let’s dive in.

2013. Jupiter began the year in Gemini. This was in my 8th house. The 8th house can represent debts, other people's resources, karmic relationships, and endings. In my 8th, I also have my Sun and my Mercury placement here, which, based on my personal chart, have lots to do with my career path.

Jupiter also relates to broader knowledge and learning. While it was in my 8th, I applied to go to University (for my 2nd time). After being accepted, I applied for student loans. My first time through University was immediately after high school, so I had still lived at my parents house (rent free) and had some additional support. this transit was the first time without that additional support and would start the growth of personal debts from my education towards my career path.

Later in July of 2013, Jupiter moved into Cancer, which is in my 9th house. The 9th house is about higher education, travel, beliefs, philosophy, religion, etc. I didn’t necessarily leave the country, but I had one of my busiest summers of travel within my own country. Every single weekend I had something going on, from camping to music festivals, and other travel. This went on until I packed up my car and moved provinces. Being so busy was quite abnormal for me, which is why it stands out. After a few weeks of pit stops in other towns, I landed in my new home in Kelowna and started university one week later. This 9th house transit, obviously, was heavily focused on travel and learning/education.

As this transit progressed, while in school, my beliefs and values began to shift. I started becoming a regular at a yoga studio, my interests in topics at school also began to shift, which changed what I chose to major in. Eventually, beyond this 9th house transit, I dropped out of university and I would end up becoming a yoga teacher instead. These further career path changes were further amplified through Jupiter’s transit through my 10th (place of career), and finalized into my 11th house (where my MC is - an important point of visibility on one's career path).

It was a sequence of events clearly defined by the timing of Jupiter’s movements.

In 2014, while Jupiter was still in Cancer, I also had fertility themes arise. I won’t get into the details in this post, but wanted to note this as Cancer is a sign that can represent fertility, or the growth of things. This was in connection with my relationship at the time because the ruler of Cancer, the Moon, is in my 7th house of relationships. We can always find more information about themes based on the personal location of the planetary ruler.

Let’s fast forward this similar sequence about 12 years later.

To watch themes repeat, let’s review when Jupiter returned to my 8th house again. Jupiter returned to Gemini by May of 2024.

By July of 2024 I had signed myself up for a women’s retreat in Morocco. The retreat wasn’t to take place until the spring of 2025, but I essentially put myself in “debt” as I had monthly payments I was responsible for throughout this period. In this time, I also began to have the desire to travel again, but due to living circumstances, I felt tied to my current home. This to me, shows a tie to other peoples resources. There was a feeling of obligation to stay in my current rental so I wouldn’t disrupt my friend’s situation and leave them stuck without another person to contribute to rent.

The 8th can represent the karmic ties we have to others and the things we owe to others and what others owe to us. I had a choice at this time, and knowing this was happening helped me move through this process. I could have stayed back and held onto this sense of ‘responsibility’ I felt for this other person’s situation.

I could have stayed tied back, in a sense, trying to account for the other person and financially support them by staying. Or I had the choice, as I so desired to do, to travel. This also felt beyond a simple choice of finances. We’re always very much tied to those we’re in relationship with - it’s like the saying “you are the same as the closest 5 people you spend time with”. The friend I lived with at the time had a lifestyle that no longer felt aligned with me, so this choice was to move away from that energy as well.

By making this choice, finding a roommate for my friend and committing to my next path, I was rewarded. By the end of December I had not only completely moved out and started an open ended traveling trip, but I had received unexpected income from my work. I had a sweet little influx of cash and was not tied down to my previous situation. Plus, it turns out, it’s actually cheaper to rent elsewhere than where I was in Canada.

it’s also important to note that this 8th house transition occurred while Jupiter was retrograde. It was no longer growing these specific “debts” but breaking up the pattern.

By June 2025, when Jupiter entered Cancer again, in my 9th house, my retreat debts had been paid off, and I’d just returned to back to Mexico after having spent time in Morocco.

This began a new cycle of not just traveling by myself, which I was very accustomed to, but traveling with my partner… again, my 9th house also connects to my 7th house of partnerships due to my natal moon sitting in my 7th (moon rules Cancer).

The 9th house can represent foreign places - this Jupiter transit has of course been tied to my travels with my partner, and in relation, my partner himself is from a different nationality and background.

Throughout the summer, I once again had fertility themes that arose, similar to how they came up in 2014. The story repeating, in a slightly different manner.

While Jupiter is still in Cancer, and I’m observing the happenings of this, this period has also brought up many experiences that have challenged my belief systems. It has had me question many things and most importantly, the beliefs I’ve held in order to keep myself ‘safe’.

It’s shown me ways in which I’m learning to step out of my shell and find personal growth. Cancer is a sign that, represented by the crab, that desires safety and security, but in order for growth to occur, we must step outside of our comfort zone.

While I described my 2013 transit of Jupiter in Cancer and compare it to my 2025 transit of Cancer, another theme they have in common are “moving”. I don’t want to get to tightly into my home life, as that is represented by a different house and there have been other transits occurring at the same time that can speak to this, but Cancer and the Moon can also speak to a feeling of home. When I moved in 2013 for school, I immediately felt as if I was coming back home, even though it was a new location for me. In 2025, returning to Mexico, I had the same feeling of coming back ‘home’, even though it was a foreign place.

After all of this, what is the benefit of actually knowing what transits are taking place? Won’t my life just continue to flow as it should if I don’t know?

The answer is yes. The cosmos are a mirror to your experience on Earth. They are going to symbolize what is going on in your life, but they don’t always show up positively.

I’m sure I could write a novel of my experiences, but we don’t have the time to sit here and read that. The transits can show up in both positive and negative experiences. I’ve definitely had many challenges through my time, but have found that simply being aware of what is happening allows me to better navigate my life.

For example, before I left at the end of December 2024 to go traveling. I could have very well stayed put at my home, paying rent at a place that I didn’t necessarily want to be. Instead, I could see the karmic tie that was present through shared resources, and chose to cut that. Essentially, paying rent for me is even cheaper traveling than it is back home, so I got to get out and experience what I wanted while actually saving money in rent.

The choice to do so lead me to connect with new people, including my partner, that I wouldn’t have otherwise met if I didn’t make that decision.

Seeing that my previous Jupiter transit through my 8th to 11th houses brought changes in my career (partially due to some specific placements), I can now see that while Jupiter remains in my 9th, it’s a really auspicious time for me to be continuing to deepen my studies of my desired path. Considering that Astrology is my current choice of study (9th house also relates to astrology), this to me, would be a sign to grow and expand within this area.

I can’t say how all the magic will unfold, but I can see the rhythms playing out in front of me and I have the choice to step into them.

Even though we often intuitively know what we need to do, sometimes we can have fears or doubts stop us. They hold us back from stepping into our fullest potential - or into a new reality that feels exciting to step into. This is why seeing our transits can help guide us along our path.

I don’t believe there’s a “wrong” path, but I think there’s always going to be one that lights us up more. The transits can help us choose our path and weave our destiny.

I hope this gives you a few little nuggets of info or inspiration to continue following the path you feel called to as well. If you want to explore your transits together and explore your possibilities, you can book a reading here.
